Carbon Fibre Upgrades: Understanding Safety and Durability
If you’re thinking about upgrading to carbon fibre bike parts for the first time, it’s completely normal to have questions about safety and durability.
We understand just how important it is to have gear you can trust on every ride, whatever type of cycling you are doing and terrain you are looking to tackle.
We understand that buying carbon fibre can feel like a big step. While we are proud to support some of the top cyclists in the UK and increasingly around the world, we know some of our customers will be familiar with their existing aluminium parts but totally new to carbon fibre.
2-Year Warranty on Carbon Bike Parts
To make things as simple as possible, we back our carbon products with a two-year warranty programme. Because we know having full confidence in your gear is essential to every ride. You can find out more details here.
Design + Engineering: Strength Made Simple
Carbon fibre has an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and versatility. These qualities have revolutionised cycling by enabling lighter, faster, and more efficient bikes.
At its core, carbon fibre consists of long, thin strands of carbon atoms arranged in a crystalline lattice. These fibres, typically 5 to 10 micrometres wide, are produced through a process called pyrolysis, where polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is heated to very high temperatures in an oxygen-free environment.
This drives off non-carbon atoms, leaving highly pure carbon strands with incredible tensile strength - up to 5,000 megapascals, far surpassing steel - while remaining remarkably light, with a density around 1.6 grams per cubic centimetre.
To make our carbon bike parts, these fibres are woven into mats and combined with epoxy resin to form a composite material. The epoxy resin binds the fibres and distributes loads, creating a part that is stiff yet resilient.
By adjusting how the fibres are layered and oriented, carbon fibre can be optimised for different use cases. This is how we have iterated and arrived at our X Weave™ layup. It means you get components designed to perform precisely how you need them to, giving you confidence without compromising on weight or ride feel.
Manufacturing: Quality You Can Trust
Our manufacturing process begins with premium materials, including our X Weave™ carbon fibre composites. Using advanced moulding and machining techniques, each component is made with precision and care.
Every part undergoes thorough quality checks, including ultrasonic scanning to catch hidden defects.
Real-World Testing Proven by Riders Like You
We have learned that no amount of lab testing compares to the real world. That’s why our growing community of amateur and pro riders tests our parts over thousands of miles in varied conditions. Their feedback helps us refine and improve every product. This process, known as our OODA loop, is how we ensure our components perform when it matters most.

Clearing Up Common Questions
Understanding your gear is part of riding with confidence and that includes knowing how carbon fibre performs in the real world. Here’s what you should keep in mind:
-
Our carbon fibre parts don’t just rely on strength alone, they are engineered to provide subtle signs if something is not right, like small creaks or changes in feel. This early warning lets you check your gear before any problem arises, helping you maintain confidence in every ride.
-
Because of the way fibres are layered and oriented, these components can handle high levels of stress and impact common in serious riding without compromising durability.
-
Maintenance is straightforward. Treat carbon fibre with the same care you give any quality bike part: avoid over-tightening bolts, inspect regularly, and be mindful when mounting or clamping by following max torque specifications or hand-tightening where possible.
Building Confidence in Your Upgrade
Choosing carbon fibre means investing in more than just lighter parts. It means trusting in a combination of science, engineering, and real-world rider experience. Our process combines cutting-edge design, meticulous manufacturing, and feedback from our small team of cyclists, so you don’t have to compromise on reliability or peace of mind.
We are privileged to count many pro cyclists among our customers and are grateful for the outstanding feedback we get. Check out our Trustpilot where we consistently get 5-star reviews for the quality of our products and customer care. It takes many years of prototyping and failures, to have accessible, market-leading performance.
